Korean Adoptees Ministry Center
P.O. Box 130563
St. Paul, MN 55113, U.S.A.

Dear Rev. Sung Chul Park,

I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt support and prayers of blessing for the

Korean Adoptees Ministry Center, a much needed and little recognized ministry devoted to a relatively small segment of our population here in the United States.

This past summer when I received your email regarding the “Spiritual Journey to Korea” scholarship opportunity, I immediately thought of a specific member of our church. He is a single, young adult who was born in South Korea and adopted as an infant by an American couple here in the states. Although he never fully shared his life story before or offered any details about growing up as a Korean adoptee,

I knew this was at the heart of his current spiritual and life struggles. I read over the application and saw that the journey also included an “Inner Healing” component. This scholarship was quite literally an answer to prayer! He had hopes of visiting Korea one day, to discover his ethnic roots and find peace in his heart concerning a people and nation that had given him away at birth. A lack of finances forced him to put this dream off into the distant future, but receiving this scholarship allowed his dreams to become a present reality.

Before and during his trip to Korea, he kept a detailed journal of everything he was feeling, learning and experiencing. Upon his return to the states, we asked him to share a testimony about his journey during our regular Sunday worship service at church. His story was amazing and such a blessing to the whole congregation! God spoke to him, provided for him, began to heal his heart and transform his thoughts regarding his former attitude towards Koreans in general, his birth parents, and even the idea of adoption. Most importantly for him, the churches and homestay families in Korea served as real life examples of God’s agapé love and he was able to truly know and experience the Father heart of God.

Every detail and component of this Spiritual Journey and Inner Healing trip, beginning with the scholarship application process and the orientation retreat in Minnesota, to the homestays, church visits, orphanage and adoption agency visits, the spiritual retreat and debriefing meeting back in the states – all were extremely well planned and integral to this program that ministers to Korean adoptees. I am blessed to know that such a ministry exists and am encouraged by the continued support of the churches both here and in Korea. This is an underserved and often unrecognized group of people and many need healing concerning their unique shared background.  By the grace of God and your tireless efforts, I pray that through the work of the Korean Adoptees Ministry Center many more will be able to experience this opportunity of a lifetime.

Blessings,

Rev. Mimi Kim
